The Web Update is an ActiveX control from the Clever Internet ActiveX Suite library.
By using this control you can easily add self-update ability to your application. It retrieves version information from the web server and if there is a newer version available, download and install update files.

By using the Web Update component you can add a self-update ability to your application in three simple steps:
- Put Web Update control on to a WinForm
- Create a configuration file and upload it to your server
- Upload necessary update files to the server
Now you are ready to start the update, control the updating progress, interrupt and continue the update from point where it was stopped.
The Configuration file represents XML document and includes all information about available updates, its versions, size and any other update description.
You can make a configuration file manually or by using a sample Configuration editor (UpdateMgr) from the Clever Internet ActiveX Suite Demos. This tool allows you to add new updates as well as manage updates available on the server.
With WebUpdate ActiveX control you can use default Internet settings without specifying anything. It automatically discovers Internet Explorer Proxy settings for LAN or using automatic configuration script - proxy.pac.
